A Spectacular Evening of Broadway Classics

The *Golden Age of Broadway* concert, held on March 22, 2025, at THE PLATFORM, Menara KEN TTDI, delighted audiences with a showcase of beloved Broadway hits. Featuring a mix of seasoned and emerging talents alongside a live orchestra, the concert paid tribute to Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, Cole Porter, and other Broadway greats.

The evening featured soloists Angie Cheah, Thompson Yunga, Natalie Makulin, Qahar Aqilah, Renna Kim, Nandipa Dlamini, Isa Zamiri, the award-winning KLCO Chorus led by Chi Hoe Mak, children from the KLCO Opera for Kids & Teens workshop, and the KLCO Orchestra under Music Director Cadis Lee. Stage direction was helmed by Danny Chen, founder and Executive Producer.

Opening with a medley from Oklahoma! including Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’ and People Will Say We’re in Love, the concert took audiences on a nostalgic journey. Angie Cheah and Thompson Yunga delivered a moving If I Loved You from Carousel, while Nandipa Dlamini and Thompson Yunga charmed with Till There Was You from The Music Man. Next, the KL City Opera Chorus performed a Cole Porter medley featuring popular songs such as Anything Goes and Night and Day.

Followed by The King and I medley featuring Pyen Tan and children from the Opera for Kids & Teens workshop with Getting to Know You. Qahar Aqilah and Renna Kim brought My Fair Lady to life, from I’ve grown accustomed to her face, The Rain in Spain and I could have danced all night.

Finally, Isa Zamiri serenaded the audience with Edelweiss from The Sound of Music leading to the grand finale featuring a stirring medley performed by the KLCO Chorus, Opera for Kids & Teens, and Angie Cheah.

Narrated segments provided historical context, enhancing the storytelling. Audience members praised the show’s energy and nostalgia, with one attendee exclaiming: “We felt like teenagers again, reliving happy memories of Broadway classics!”. Another shared: *“KL City Opera’s soloists were Broadway-standard! The inclusion of children was a brilliant idea.”
