Nancy Yuen

Nancy Yuen is an internationally acclaimed Asian soprano who made her professional debut after graduating from the Royal Academy of Music with the Welsh National Opera, performing the title role in Madama Butterfly to critical acclaim. She has since reprised this signature role worldwide with leading companies including English National Opera, as well as appearances at the Royal Albert Hall.

Beyond performance, Yuen is active in music education and artistic leadership. She has given masterclasses across Asia and served as an adjudicator for major competitions such as the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the International Clara Schumann Competition. Since 2015, she has been the Honorary Artistic Director of the Singapore Lyric Opera and a member of the Artistic Committee of Opera Hong Kong.

As an opera director, she has directed productions including Carmen, Le Nozze di Figaro, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Die Zauberflöte, Don Pasquale, Cavalleria Rusticana, and Pagliacci. In academia, she served as Head of Vocal Studies at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (2003–2010) and has been Head of Vocal Studies at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts since 2010, where she was appointed Professor in 2018. She was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in recognition of her achievements in performance and education.
